On Muttiah Muralitharan’s 51st birthday, Movie Train Motion Pictures presented the first-look poster of the legendary cricketer’s biopic titled 800. Slumdog Millionaire actor Madhur Mittal plays the legendary spinner. M.S. Sripathi is directing '800' which has Ghibran composing the music, R.D. Rajasekhar handling the cinematography and Praveen KL the editing. The film's title denotes the number of test wickets that Muralitharan bagged which record may never be broken.
Earlier, actor Vijay Sethupathi was slated to portray the cricketer in the biopic, but he opted out of the project in 2020. The film 800 will be made available in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Mahima Nambiar playing the female lead.
Muralitharan represented Sri Lanka in 133 Tests, 350 ODIs and 12 T20 Internationals. He took a staggering 800 wickets in the longest format, 534 in the ODIs and 13 in the T20s. He was also part of Sri Lanka's ODI World Cup triumph in 1996.
