Kathi’s 25th film Japan directed by Raju Murugan of the National award-winning movie Joker fame is coming to the theatres for Diwali. The teaser of the film was unveiled in October 18.
The teaser opens with the police being upset about a robbery of worth Rs 200 crore in Chennai. Cops suspect that the culprit is the titular character Japan (essayed by Karthi), who is a robber with a signature style. Police officers from four states are out to nab him, making Japan one of the most-wanted thieves of the country.
The film's score has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar, with editing by Philomin Raj and cinematography by Ravi Varman. The film is produced by SR Prabhu's Dream Warriors Pictures.
Karthi brings a peculiarity to the character with his brilliant portrayal. His appearance and body language are different, yet remarkable. The teaser gives a hint of Japan being a heist thriller with comic elements. Anu Emmanuel is acting opposite Karthi in Japan. The film also stars Sunil, cinematographer-turned-actor Vijay Milton, Jithan Ramesh and others.
Japan will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. The exact release date is yet to be announced.
