Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer sports drama Ghoomer is all set to release on the OTT platform. ‘Ghoomer’ is directed by R. Balki who has co-written the film with Rahul Sengupta and Rishi Virmani.
The film first premiered at the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on August 14 and had its theatrical release in India on August 18. The film ‘Ghoomer’ failed at the box office but received praise for its sports theme, the struggle story, and the performances by Abhishek and Saiyami.
The film tells the story of Anina (Saiyami), a batswoman and how she gets back into the sport after losing her right arm. The film also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles. It will be streaming on OTT platform Zee5 from November 10.
Karoly Takacs, the late Hungarian right-hand shooter is the inspiration behind Ghoomer. He won two Olympic Gold medals with his left hand, although he had a severely injured right hand.
