Legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty's latest crime thriller film 'Kannur Squad' recently entered the Rs.100 crore club, becoming sixth highest-grossing Malayalam film in history.
The film marks the directorial debut of accomplished cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj. Despite a relatively low buzz leading up to its release, "Kannur Squad" managed to win over audiences with its content-rich narrative.
The film is based on the real-life Kannur Squad, which was formed to combat the rising crimes in the region. The challenges they face to capture the criminals form the crux of the film.
Kishore, Vijayaraghavan, Rony David Raj, Azeez Nedumangad, Shabareesh Varma, and Sarath Sabha played pivotal roles. Mammootty produced Kannur Squad under the banner of Mammootty Kampany. Sushin Shyam provided the tunes.
The movie will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from November 17.
