The biopic of Sri Lankan cricketing legend Muttiah Muralitharan is set to release on the OTT platform after theatrical release on October 6 this year. The movie, titled 800 has garnered some impressive reviews from critics, the film didn’t seem to have performed that great at the box office.
Now the movie is ready to make its digital debut. A leading OTT platform, Jio Cinema, announced that the 800 will be premiered on December 2, 2023, in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali.
Story: Based on Muthiah Muralidaran`s life, the champion who set the record for taking 800 wickets in Test Cricket. The tale of a chucker who didn`t play by the rules, an oppressed Tamil who championed Sri Lankan Cricket, and went on to become the highest wicket-taker in the history of cricket.
Madhur Mittal of Slum God Millionaire fame plays the lead character in the movie, with Mahima Nambiar, King Ratnam, Nassar, Narain and others. The film is directed by M.S. Sripathy.
The screenplay co-written by Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka. The music for 800 is scored by Ghibran, with RD Rajasekhar handling cinematography and Praveen KL in charge of editing.
