Tamil heist action-comedy Japan, starring Karthi, was released in theaters on November 10, coinciding the week of Diwali clashing with Jigarthanda Double X. Japan is written and directed by Raju Murugan, created a lot of hype ahead of its release but failed to impress. It was criticized for its lazy, uninspired writing and underwritten characters, that failed to connect with the audience.
Japan has officially entered the streaming realm, making its debut on Netflix starting on December 11. It will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada audio languages.
Synopsis: Japan is a notorious master thief who steals ₹200 crore worth jewels from a jewellery shop in Coimbatore, following which a cat-and-mouse chase ensues between him and the police. The storyline is inspired by the real-life incident.
Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, cinematographer-filmmaker Vijay Milton, KS Ravikumar, and Jithan Ramesh played the key parts. The film marks Karthi’s 25th film as lead and is backed by Dream Warrior Pictures
Karthi will next star in 'Vaa Vaathiyaare' along with Krithi Shetty in the lead role.
