BRAHMASTRA: PART ONE - SHIVA
After setting the box office on fire, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Bramastra is finally on OTT. The movie is streaming on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar almost two months after the release. This film is going to release on November 4th in five Languages Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The movie is directed by Ayan Mukerji, the first part of his Astraverse trilogy. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy. Shah Rukh Khan in the cameo appearance as Mohan Bhargav and it also has Deepika Padukone in an uncredited appearance.
The film follows Shiva, an orphan with pyrokinetic powers who discovers that he is an astra, a weapon of enormous energy. He attempts to prevent the strongest of the astras, the Brahmāstra, from falling into the hands of dark forces that share a history with him.
The film has estimated grossed over ₹431 crore (US$54 million) worldwide, making it ultimately the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022, the 5th highest grossing Indian film of 2022 and the 21st highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Ayan Mukherjee's original plan consists of releasing 'Brahmastra' as a three-part movie series. The second and third instalments are being worked upon as well. The second part is named 'Brahmastra: Part Two - Dev' and is expected to start shooting by 2023 and is speculated to be released in theatres by December 2025.
PONNIYIN SELVAN PART 1
Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus film – Ponniyin Selvan 1 is a period drama, based on a historical fiction novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, tells the story of the early days of Arulmozhi Varman, who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Starring Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Shobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar and Parthiban in key roles, the film is directed and co-produced by Mani Ratnam. PS1 is all set for its digital release on Prime Video from November 4th in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
PS1 became the first Tamil film to release in IMAX format. The film score and soundtrack were composed by Mani Ratnam's norm composer A. R. Rahman. PS1 is currently closing to the 500 crore mark worldwide. It became the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year 2022, the fourth-highest-grossing Tamil film of all time and the 15th highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Ponniyin Selvan is a story made in 2 parts. The 2 parts are reported to be made on a 500 cr budget spread across 2 films and everyone initially believed it to be a risky move by Mani Ratnam. However, the resounding success of the film at the Tamil Nadu box office and overseas has created massive interest for the second part. The second part planning to release on April 2023.
