The OTT release date for the Tamil emotional drama film Thalaikoothal has been set for March 3, 2023 on Netflix. The film, which was released in theatres on February 3, 2023, received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Film director Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, who had earlier directed the film Lens, written and directed the film.
Thalaikoothal, starring Samuthirakani, Kathir, and Vasundhara, tells the story of the traditional practices of senicide (killing of the elderly) or involuntary euthanasia by their own family members, which is practised in rural areas of Virudhunagar district in Tamil Nadu. The film was largely shot in Kovilpatti, with some schedules held in Kutralam and Tenkasi.
