Nivin Pauly's Thuramukham has been one of the most delayed projects in Malayalam cinema in recent times. The film helmed by Rajeev Ravi has seen multiple postpones in the release. The makers officially announced that the most anticipated movie release in theatres on March 10.
Thuramukham is touted as an action-packed period drama movie and the script is penned down by the writer Gopan Chidambaram, based on his father KN Chidambaram’s stage play of the same title. The film has a battalion of actors that include Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Sudev Nair, Arjun Ashokan, Nimisha Sajayan, Joju George, and Poornima Indrajith.
The film is set during the mid-1900s in the backdrop of workers' struggles and protests against corrupt bosses. It revolves around the infamous ‘Chappa’ system practised at Kochi's Mattancherry harbour, which involved casual labour allocation, and a primitive work guarantee scheme.
