Vardhan Ketkar, who had also worked as the assistant director in Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg, announced his directorial debut film christened "Gumraah" starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Mrunal Thakur. It is the adaptation of Maghizh Thirumeni’s 2019 directorial hit film Thandam which starred Arun Vijay and Vidya Pradeep in lead roles with Tanya Hope and Smruthi Venkat in supporting roles. It was commercially successful and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year in Tamil Nadu. The film has also been remade in Telugu as Red with Ram Pothineni in the lead role.
Aditya reprised Arun Vijay's role in the remake version. The 'Malang' actor will be seen in double role for the first time in two completely different avatars with 'Jersey' actress Mrunal will portray the role of a cop. The crime thriller will showcase an intense face-off between the two leads. Actor Roni Roy will also be playing a crucial role in the film.
Gumraah is bankrolled by Bollywood’s one of the popular filmmakers Bhushan Kumar under the banner of his own production company T-Series in association with Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios.
