After the grand success of Pathu Thala, Gautham Karthik latest release period drama "August 16, 1947" written and directed by newcomer NS Ponkumar. The director borrows its title from the date that marks one day after India gained independence from the British colonial rulers. Critics and audience gave mediocre reviews to the film despite the popular storyline. But it failed to have an extended theatrical run due to busy Tamil releases.
The latest report is that the flick has made its OTT premiere on Prime Video on May 5. The movie also available on Tentkotta and Simply South for outside India users. The film set against the backdrop of British rule. It depicts Paraman's (Gautham Karthik) struggle against the brutality of British general Robert Clive against the villagers of Sengadu.
Debutant Revathy Sharma plays the female lead in the movie which stars Richard Ashton, Jason Shah and Pugazh among others in pivotal roles.
