The much-hyped mythological epic drama film Shaakuntalam, based on Kalidasa’s renowned Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shaakuntalam. Featuring Samantha as Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as King Dushyantha. The film received flak from critics and failed commercially as well. Now, the flick was scheduled to arrive digitally on Prime Video - May 11, 2023. The film is streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi audio format with English subtitles on the streamer.
The movie has been directed by Gunasekhar, a classic love story between Shakuntala, daughter of Menaka and Vishwamitra who falls in love with King Dushyanta. They marry each other but after sage Durvasa curses Dushyanta, he forgets all about her.
The star cast includes Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Allu Arha and Ananya Nagalla. Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha made her acting debut in 'Shaakuntalam' and was seen in a cameo role. She played the role of Prince Bharata in the film.
Shaakuntalam has also started streaming digitally on Simply South worldwide, excluding India. On the streamer, the movie is streaming in Tamil and Telugu audio formats. The film is available in Tentkotta as well.
Samantha will also star in 'Kushi' opposite Vijay Deverakonda. The movie will release on September 01, 2023.
