Tamil film ‘Appatha’ has decided to skip theatres and release directly on OTT platform. The film is set to release on Jio Cinema on July 29. Appatha is the 700th film of veteran South Indian Actress Urvashi’s career. Directed by ace filmmaker Priyadarshan and produced by Suresh Balaje, George Pius, and Jyoti Deshpande. The story of ‘Appatha’ is written by Hardik Gajjar, and its screenplay has been crafted by Priyadarshan and Deepthi Govindarajan. National award winner Madhu Ambat cranks the camera for the movie.
The story revolves around an elderly woman and her unconditional love for her dog. It beautifully portrays an unlikely bond that highlights the significance of respecting parents and discovering oneself.
Appatha is a smaller film compared to the ace director’s recent outings such as Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham or even Corona Papers earlier this year. The film first made its debut at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Film Festival in January 2023.
Meanwhile, Urvashi had completed the shoot of her two films, Iyer Kanda Dubai and Ullozhukku.
